EDUCATION IN ROME

The history of Rome is divided in three periods: first republic, medium republic and high empire. The contents it is also divided in three types of education: elemental education, secondary education and superior education. First of all, on elemental education children of 7-12 years studied reading, writing and arithmetic. Secondly, on secondary education children of 12-16 read poems and commented texts. Last one, superiors education was for children that were 17-21 because they studied discourses. 
For kids aged up to 11-12 the aims were to learn how to read, write and basic mathematics. For older children they have to do public speaking, writings and practical knowledge. 
The methodology of education in Rome is divided in the Trivium (retoric, grammar and dialects) and the Quadrivium ( arithmetic, astronomy, geometry and music).
The main authors were Marco Tulio Cicerón, Lució Anneso Séneca, Marco Fabio Quintiliano and Plutarco.
